About the course

Code as Medium

This studio treats AI as an interpretive system rather than an image generator — a collaborator, not a generator. Photography is approached as translation, not capture: optical index, chemical process, digital signal, probabilistic inference. Each layer reads the image before you do.

Session 1, Tool Lab, studies machine perception and treats misreading as material: the errors, inventions, and exaggerations of machine vision become the starting point for artistic work. Session 2, AI Art Crafting, moves from outputs to behaviors — feedback loops, conditional logic, temporality, and external influence, built into systems that are themselves the artwork.

  • Systems are artworks.
  • Process is a position.
  • Interpretation over automation.
  • Experimentation over mastery.
  • Open questions over conclusions.

This workshop uses external AI tools. Availability, free access, embedding support, and interface behavior may change. Student work saved in this V1 remains in the current browser unless exported. Uploaded images stay in browser memory and are never sent to a server.
